Job Objective:

The primary goal of this role is to implement 301 URL redirects for existing classified ads with non-optimal URLs, ensuring that users and search engines are redirected to the new, optimized URL structure. This task is a crucial part of improving the visibility, accessibility, and user experience of the classified ads platform. By optimizing URLs, this role will directly contribute to the overall success of the SayPro Monthly Classified URL Structure initiative, as detailed in SayPro Monthly January SCMR-5.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. URL Review and Assessment:
    • Conduct a thorough audit of all existing classified ads to identify URLs that are non-optimal or incorrectly structured.
    • Assess current URLs for issues such as:
      • Long and complex URLs that are not user-friendly.
      • URLs containing unnecessary parameters or random characters.
      • URLs that fail to include relevant keywords for SEO purposes.
  2. Implementation of 301 Redirects:
    • For all identified non-optimal URLs, implement 301 redirects to the new, optimized URLs.
    • Ensure that the redirects are permanent (301) to signal search engines to update their indexes with the new URL structure.
    • Test all redirects to ensure they are functioning correctly, leading to the appropriate optimized URL.
    • Track and log all redirects to maintain an accurate record for SEO purposes and future audits.
  3. URL Optimization:
    • Work with the SayPro Marketing and SEO teams to develop a new URL structure for classified ads that is clean, descriptive, and keyword-optimized.
    • Ensure that the new URLs are clear, easy to read, and include relevant keywords to improve search engine rankings.
    • Update the URL structure to ensure it reflects the ad content, categorization, and user intent.
  4. Testing and Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct thorough testing on all redirects to verify that:
      • Users are being redirected seamlessly to the new URL without encountering errors or dead ends.
      • Search engines are correctly crawling and indexing the new URLs.
    • Identify any issues with broken links, slow redirects, or duplicate content resulting from the implementation.

  5. SEO Monitoring:

  8. Reporting and Documentation:
