Objective
The goal of this activity is to enhance the SayPro Classified platform’s search functionality by implementing an optimized search algorithm that improves the relevance of results and enables location-based filtering. This initiative is part of the SayPro Monthly January SCMR-5 project under SayPro Marketing Royalty SCMR and is managed by the SayPro Classified Office.
Key Features of the Optimized Search Algorithm
1. Sort by Relevance
- The system will rank and display classified listings based on keyword relevance and geographic proximity.
- The algorithm will analyze user queries and match them with ad titles, descriptions, and category tags to provide more accurate search results.
- A weighted ranking system will be used to prioritize results that closely match user intent and search history (if applicable).
2. Keyword Matching & Ranking
- The search engine will use natural language processing (NLP) to understand synonyms and related terms.
- The algorithm will apply word stemming (e.g., “buying” and “buy” will be treated similarly).
- Advertisements with exact keyword matches in the title or description will rank higher than those with partial matches.
- The system will prioritize frequently clicked listings and highly rated sellers for better user experience.
3. Location-Based Search & Filtering
- Users will be able to filter results by geographic region, city, or proximity to their current location.
- The system will support:
- Automatic location detection (using IP address or GPS for mobile users).
- Manual selection of search radius (e.g., 5km, 10km, 50km).
- Filtering by specific cities or neighborhoods based on predefined SayPro Classified Office zones.
- Ads will be geotagged, ensuring that only relevant local listings appear.
