Role: Standardize URL Naming Conventions for Classified Ads Listings

This ensures that every listing adheres to the same format, making URLs cleaner, more descriptive, and user-friendly, while also improving search engine optimization (SEO) and ensuring compliance with SayPro’s privacy and security standards.

This task is part of the SayPro Monthly January SCMR-5, which focuses on improving the structure of classified ad URLs as per the guidelines of SayPro Classified Office under SayPro Marketing Royalty SCMR.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop URL Naming Guidelines:
    • Research and establish best practices for URL naming conventions, considering SEO, readability, and the need for clarity.
    • Create a set of rules for URL formats, such as:
      • Use of relevant keywords (e.g., ad category, location, product name).
      • Avoidance of special characters or spaces.
      • Implementation of hyphens to separate words for better readability.
      • Consistent use of lowercase letters for uniformity.
  2. Design Consistent URL Structure for All Ad Listings:
    • Design a URL structure that can be applied to all types of classified ads, ensuring that it is scalable for different categories and subcategories.
    • Example URL structure:
      /classifieds/[category]/[sub-category]/[ad-title]-[location]
Where each section of the URL corresponds to specific data that users can identify easily (e.g., product type, location, etc.).
  3. Collaborate with Development and Marketing Teams:
    • Work closely with the website development team to ensure that the new URL structure is implemented seamlessly across the platform.
    • Partner with the marketing department to ensure the URL structure aligns with SEO strategies, helping to improve organic search rankings.
    • Ensure that the URL format also aligns with user-friendly principles to enhance the customer experience.
  4. Enforce Guidelines:
    • Establish monitoring systems to ensure that all new ad listings follow the established URL format.
    • Implement an internal review process for new listings to check URL formatting before they go live.
    • Ensure that existing listings are updated to match the standardized format over time.
  5. Maintain URL Integrity:
    • Ensure that URLs remain functional and do not break or lead to “404 Not Found” errors, especially after updates or restructuring of content.
    • Set up URL redirection strategies where needed to ensure that old URLs point to the correct new URLs without causing issues for users or search engines.
  6. SEO and User Experience Focus:
    • Ensure the URL structure enhances SEO efforts by incorporating relevant keywords and making URLs more descriptive.
    • Develop guidelines that enhance readability for users, making it easier to share, remember, and access links.
  7. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Track the performance of the new URL structures to determine how they impact user traffic and ad listing engagement.
    • Report on SEO improvements, such as changes in search engine rankings or increased organic traffic, as a result of the updated URL structure.
    • Monitor compliance with the new URL guidelines and provide regular updates to the team on adherence to the standards.
