Position Title: Spam Protection Analyst
Department: SayPro Classified Office
Reports To: Classified Office Manager

Position Overview:

The Spam Protection Analyst will play a critical role in identifying, analyzing, and addressing recurring spam-related issues within the SayPro Classifieds platform. Reporting directly to the Classified Office Manager, this position is responsible for providing continuous feedback to the team, assessing the effectiveness of current spam protection measures, and recommending improvements as outlined in the SayPro Monthly January SCMR-5, specifically under the SayPro Monthly Classified Spam Protection initiative. The role will also involve monitoring ad submission processes, assisting with the implementation of antispam measures, and ensuring the overall integrity of the classified ads experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and Analyze Spam Protection Systems:
    • Actively monitor the performance of existing antispam systems (e.g., CAPTCHA, spam filters, account verification) to detect and address gaps in the protection mechanisms.
    • Perform regular audits of ad submissions, looking for signs of spam activity and analyzing patterns that indicate areas of vulnerability.
    • Track and document recurring spam-related issues, focusing on how they circumvent current systems and identifying root causes.
  2. Provide Feedback and Recommendations:
    • Offer detailed feedback to the team based on identified spam trends and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
    • Work closely with the SayPro Classified Office and Marketing Royalty SCMR team to discuss challenges and share insights from monthly assessments under the SayPro Monthly Classified Spam Protection initiative.
    • Suggest enhancements or new technologies that could be implemented to improve the accuracy and reliability of spam protection systems.
  3. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Engage with the IT and Development teams to assist in the implementation of suggested improvements and updates to spam protection systems.
    • Work with the customer support and marketing teams to ensure that user complaints related to spam are addressed promptly and comprehensively.
    • Partner with the SEO team to ensure that spam protection efforts align with SEO best practices and do not hinder legitimate ad visibility.
  4. Penetration Testing and Simulation:
    • Assist in conducting regular penetration tests and simulations to assess how well the spam protection systems handle various spam submission tactics (e.g., bots, keyword stuffing).
    • Collaborate with other team members to evaluate the robustness of CAPTCHA solutions and other verification tools during simulated high-volume spam attacks.
  5. Data Reporting and Documentation:
    • Compile and analyze data from spam protection systems, providing detailed reports that highlight system performance, trends in spam submissions, and the effectiveness of existing solutions.
    • Document findings, improvement recommendations, and progress updates in monthly reports for internal review and stakeholder communication.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the latest antispam technologies and trends to propose innovative solutions to emerging spam tactics.
    • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed on best practices in spam prevention and security.
    • Ensure that any changes to the platform’s spam protection policies are effectively communicated across the organization and applied uniformly.
  7. System Testing and Quality Assurance:
    • Participate in the testing phase of new antispam tools, ensuring they are integrated effectively into the existing infrastructure without causing disruptions to the ad submission process.
    • Help ensure that new updates or features in the SayPro Classifieds platform don’t introduce new vulnerabilities or conflict with existing spam protection systems.
  8. User Education and Support:
    • Provide feedback and suggestions to the customer support team on how to assist users who report issues with spam or false positives.
    • Educate internal teams on best practices for managing spam submissions and avoiding system-related issues.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Reduction in Spam Submissions: Measure the effectiveness of implemented antispam solutions based on the reduction in the number of spam submissions over time.
  • Response Time to Issues: Track how quickly recurring spam issues are identified and addressed.
  • Accuracy of Spam Detection: Assess the accuracy of spam detection mechanisms, minimizing false positives (legitimate ads flagged as spam) and false negatives (spam ads not flagged).
  • Feedback Quality: Evaluate the clarity, usefulness, and timeliness of feedback provided to cross-functional teams.
  • Implementation of Recommendations: Monitor how successfully recommended improvements are implemented and their impact on the system’s effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, spam protection, or web security. Experience with ad platforms or content management systems (CMS) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in web security tools, CAPTCHA systems, and spam prevention technologies.
    • Familiarity with penetration testing, bot detection, and anti-spam algorithms.
    • Basic understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and web analytics tools.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, research solutions, and propose improvements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings and presenting recommendations to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to monitor spam activity and ensure all issues are addressed comprehensively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience with CMS Platforms: Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress, including plugin integration for spam protection.
  • Data Analytics: Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau) for identifying spam patterns and assessing system performance.
