Position Title: Spam Protection Analyst

Job Overview:

The Spam Protection Analyst will play a crucial role in monitoring, assessing, and enhancing the spam protection measures for the SayPro Classified platform as part of the SayPro Monthly January SCMR-5. This role will primarily focus on overseeing the classified ads section, detecting and addressing suspicious activities, and implementing effective antispam measures to protect the platform from unwanted or malicious content. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for identifying spam trends, proficiency with antispam technologies, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen SayPro’s classified ads integrity.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitoring and Analysis of Classified Ads Section:
    • Continuously monitor the classified ads section of the SayPro platform for signs of suspicious activity, including but not limited to spam, fake ads, and fraudulent submissions.
    • Track patterns in suspicious submissions, such as spammy keywords, repetitive content, unusual account activity, and other indicators of spam attempts.
    • Use analytical tools to identify and flag potential spam ads and behaviors.
    • Maintain detailed logs of suspicious or flagged ads, including any identified user accounts involved.
  2. Implementation of Antispam Measures:
    • Work closely with the SayPro Marketing Royalty SCMR team to implement new and updated antispam measures as part of the SayPro Monthly Classified Spam Protection initiative.
    • Collaborate with the development and IT teams to integrate antispam software and tools (e.g., CAPTCHA systems, machine learning models) into the classified ad submission process.
    • Test, troubleshoot, and refine antispam systems and tools to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in preventing spam-related activities.
  3. Spam Detection and Reporting:
    • Proactively detect and report any new spam-related trends or vulnerabilities that may arise within the classified ads section.
    • Prepare detailed reports for the SayPro Marketing Royalty SCMR team on the state of spam protection systems, including findings from data analysis, penetration testing, and system performance assessments.
    • Develop and deliver recommendations for new spam prevention strategies based on trends and patterns identified through monitoring and research.
  4. Collaboration with Other Teams:
    • Partner with the IT, marketing, and customer support teams to gather feedback and insights related to spam-related issues and complaints from users.
    • Assist in cross-departmental efforts to refine and improve the user verification and account creation process to prevent the creation of fraudulent or spam accounts.
    • Provide guidance and support for marketing and communications teams in ensuring that spam protection policies and procedures are communicated to users effectively.
  5. User and Account Verification Review:
    • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of user registration, login processes, and account verification steps (e.g., email and phone verification) as part of the spam prevention efforts.
    • Test and enhance current anti-bot measures (e.g., CAPTCHA systems, reCAPTCHA) to ensure they are blocking malicious bots and spam accounts effectively.
    • Work with the development team to implement additional layers of security for user authentication where necessary, including multi-factor authentication and anti-fraud systems.
  6. Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessments:
    • Assist in the execution of controlled penetration testing and simulated spam attacks to identify vulnerabilities in the existing spam protection systems.
    • Provide detailed feedback and recommendations on improvements to address any gaps identified during testing.
    • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure that antispam systems are resilient and can withstand future sophisticated spam attacks.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices related to spam protection and cybersecurity.
    • Regularly review and analyze performance data of the spam protection systems to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Make recommendations for enhancing the platform’s spam protection capabilities, including exploring new tools, algorithms, or strategies to better defend against evolving spam tactics.
  8. User Support and Communication:
    • Provide support and guidance to users experiencing issues related to spam ads, including handling escalated complaints and resolving user-reported problems related to blocked or flagged ads.
    • Assist in educating users on how to avoid submitting spammy content and maintain the integrity of their ads.
    • Participate in user support initiatives to improve the overall user experience and maintain the quality of content on the platform.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in spam protection, cybersecurity, content moderation, or a related field, preferably in a digital marketing or web platform environment.
    • Proven experience working with antispam systems, CAPTCHA technologies, and other fraud prevention tools.
    • Familiarity with online classified platforms and their specific challenges related to spam and fraud prevention.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of spam detection tools, bots, and automated systems.
    • Proficiency in monitoring and analyzing large data sets to detect suspicious behavior or patterns.
    • Familiarity with basic programming or scripting (e.g., Python, SQL) to assist in data analysis or system automation tasks.
    • Knowledge of web security principles, including user authentication, account verification, and anti-fraud measures.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
    • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to produce reports, documentation, and collaborate with various teams.
