Position Overview:
The Website Security Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the security protocols for SayPro’s classified platform, focusing on SSL encryption implementation and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. This includes ensuring secure data transmission for all classified listings, user interactions, and financial transactions processed on the platform. This role plays a critical part in maintaining SayPro’s reputation as a trustworthy, secure platform for users and administrators alike.
The Website Security Manager will work closely with the IT team, compliance officers, and marketing to ensure that security measures are continuously up to date with the latest industry standards and SayPro’s compliance requirements. The position is key in the ongoing execution of SayPro’s Monthly SSL Encryption strategy, a key initiative under SayPro’s Monthly January SCMR-5 strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- SSL Encryption Implementation:
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of SSL certificates for the SayPro classified website, ensuring secure data transmission for all user interactions.
- Conduct regular SSL audits to ensure that all website communications, including user data, login credentials, and payment transactions, are securely encrypted.
- Manage the procurement and renewal of SSL certificates in line with SayPro’s internal policies and industry best practices.
- Data Security and Compliance:
- Ensure the website complies with all relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) by working closely with the compliance team to safeguard user data.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of evolving data protection regulations and how they impact SSL encryption standards and website security.
- Review and update security protocols regularly, ensuring they meet the required legal and regulatory standards.
- SSL Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Implement monitoring tools to track SSL certificate performance, detecting any potential issues or vulnerabilities.
- Respond promptly to SSL certificate errors, ensuring minimal downtime and no disruption to the website’s functionality.
- Provide technical troubleshooting for SSL-related issues in collaboration with the IT support team.
- Collaboration with Marketing and IT:
- Work with the SayPro Marketing team to ensure SSL encryption aligns with the broader branding and security messaging.
- Liaise with the IT department to integrate SSL encryption in web applications, APIs, and mobile interfaces.
- Provide training and guidance to other team members on security best practices related to SSL encryption and web security.
- Security Risk Assessments and Mitigation:
- Lead regular security risk assessments of the SayPro classified platform, identifying vulnerabilities and making recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement fixes and improvements based on risk assessment findings.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation on the SSL encryption process, including certificate issuance, installation, and renewal.
- Provide monthly reports on website security status, highlighting SSL encryption achievements, challenges, and compliance metrics.
- Document any SSL-related incidents and provide analysis to senior leadership for continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in web security (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional [CISSP], Certified Information Security Manager [CISM], etc.) are highly desirable.
- Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in website security, with a focus on SSL certificate management and encryption standards.
- Proven experience working with website security technologies, including SSL/TLS, encryption protocols, and certificates.
- Experience with compliance standards such as GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy regulations is essential.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in web security tools and platforms used to manage and monitor SSL certificates.
- Strong knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS protocols and the mechanics of SSL encryption.
- Familiarity with security technologies such as firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
- Experience with web server configuration (e.g., Apache, Nginx) and troubleshooting SSL certificate issues.
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure) that may require SSL integration.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting SSL-related issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as IT, compliance, and marketing.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying potential security threats.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
