The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the creation, optimization, and submission of sitemaps to search engines in a way that enhances the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) value of the SayPro Classified platform. The employee will be tasked with generating sitemaps that are optimized for SEO, ensuring accurate metadata is included, and submitting these sitemaps for efficient crawling by search engines. This role directly impacts SayPro’s visibility on search engines, improving user traffic, and enhancing overall marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sitemap Creation & Submission
    • Generate XML sitemaps for all pages and relevant content on the SayPro Classified platform.
    • Ensure that each sitemap is submitted to major search engines, such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo, through their respective Webmaster tools.
    • Regularly update and re-submit sitemaps whenever new content is added or significant changes are made to the platform.
  2. SEO Optimization
    • Optimize the sitemaps with the most current metadata to maximize SEO benefits.
    • Include essential metadata, such as:
      • Last modification date: Indicate when each page or content was last updated.
      • Frequency of updates: Set an appropriate update frequency for each page to inform search engines how often content is refreshed (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly).
      • Priority for crawling: Assign priority levels to pages, ensuring that more important or frequently updated content gets crawled first.
  3. Error Monitoring and Correction
    • Monitor submitted sitemaps in search engine webmaster tools and promptly address any errors or issues.
    • Review crawl reports to identify any pages that may not be getting indexed or have errors.
    • Make necessary adjustments to the sitemap or website structure to ensure all pages are correctly indexed by search engines.
  4. Collaboration with the Marketing Team

    • Produce monthly reports on sitemap optimization efforts and their impact on SEO performance for the SayPro platform.
    • Suggest improvements and optimizations based on performance data.
  6. Stay Updated on SEO Trends
    • Continuously educate oneself on the latest trends, algorithm updates, and best practices in SEO, particularly around sitemap optimization and search engine crawling.
    • Implement new strategies and tactics as they emerge to maintain SayPro’s competitive SEO position.

Skills & Qualifications

  • SEO Knowledge: In-depth understanding of SEO practices, including sitemap creation, indexing, metadata optimization, and crawling best practices.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with XML sitemaps, website structure, and familiarity with Webmaster tools (Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, etc.).
  • Analytical Abilities: Ability to analyze website data and make decisions based on insights from performance reports.
