Position Overview:

The Sitemap Submission Officer is responsible for ensuring that all classified content created and organized by the SayPro Classified Office is effectively indexed by search engines. The employee will submit the generated XML sitemaps to major search engines including Google, Bing, and others, to optimize the discoverability of SayPro’s classified content. This contributes to improved visibility, search engine rankings, and traffic.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sitemap Management:
   • Retrieve and review the most recent monthly sitemap generated under the SCMR-5 classification.
   • Ensure the sitemap includes all updated classified ad URLs, including new listings, expired listings, and modified pages.
2. Google Search Console Submission:
   • Log into the verified SayPro Google Search Console account.
   • Navigate to the appropriate property (classified website or subdomain).
   • Submit the new sitemap URL (e.g., https://classified.saypro.online/sitemap.xml).
   • Monitor status and check for any submission errors or crawl issues.
3. Bing Webmaster Tools Submission:
   • Access the SayPro Bing Webmaster Tools dashboard.
   • Submit the updated sitemap URL under the correct site property.
   • Review indexing status and resolve any reported issues or warnings.
4. Submission to Additional Search Engines:
   • Identify and use other relevant search engines and directories supporting XML sitemaps (e.g., Yandex, DuckDuckGo via indexing APIs).
   • Maintain submission logs and status tracking.
5. Monitoring & Reporting:
   • Monitor sitemap indexing results on all platforms.
   • Compile a monthly report including:
     • Date/time of submission
     • URLs submitted
     • Search engine responses
     • Detected errors or crawl warnings
     • Indexed URLs vs. submitted URLs
6. Collaboration with Developers:
   • Work with the SayPro Classified Software Developers to address sitemap errors such as:
     • Broken links
     • Redirect loops
     • Disallowed URLs in robots.txt
     • Duplicate content issues
7. Archiving & Documentation:
   • Archive each month’s sitemap file and submission reports for internal auditing.
   • Maintain documentation of submission procedures and update SOPs as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Knowledge of SEO fundamentals and sitemap structures (XML format).
• Experience with Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, and other webmaster platforms.
• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and classified ad platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve sitemap issues.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with technical and content teams.
